The Wellington Papers | “Jackie”

JackieThe Wellington Papers‘ first single, is an archetypical love song. The song follows the band as they sing about lost love, but finds an optimistic, if unresolved outcome. These lyrics, soaring over funky chops laid down by Lex verlock (guitar) and Doc Klein (Bass), make for a good listening this season. The Wellington Papers came together naturally, lead by HB Wellington and Lex Verlock, The Wellington Papers make music that reflects the adventures, misadventures, and influences of growing up and living in New York City. Having come up through many of Gotham’s sub-cultures, The Wellington Papers combined experiences in graf, skate, streetwear, and clubs with their love of hip hop, punk, and surf rock, to create their own sound which is a snapshot that captures New York’s downtown restless energy after dark. Be sure to check the band’s site to download the song and listen to more music.

They go over the bands history, their music and more, and get personal with the Bad Brains.”You know something is special when even 20 years after the inception of the band they still continue to influence through their collaborations most notably with Supreme and Vans. I would hope that with this interview and the photos from their amazing show in San Francisco, younger kids will be more encouraged to get into their music or understand why they are so vital.” Click here for the full read.
