No one ever imagined that flying would be as accessible as ICON is making it. The A5, not to be confused with the Audi A5, is the latest and greatest technology in personal aircraft ownership. Imagine your neighbor’s face when he takes out his shiny lawnmower on a nice summer day, and you roll out the ICON A5 from the garage. Sorry Walter, step your aircraft game up.
Enjoy your flight over to the next page. Thanks for using Cultureshoq Air…
At first glance, you would conclude that the A5 would pass for a glorified glider, and you would be completely wrong. This scaled down aircraft was engineered to appeal to the novice pilot. Its instruments are simplified and the GPS Navigation system and interior is one you would find in a luxury sedan. As far as fuel, it is able to be powered with unleaded fuel you can find at a local marina or even store it in your garage, where the A5 can be easily folded and housed.
A few specifications of the ICON A5 begin with the necessary distance needed for takeoff and landing. A good 750 feet should do it. The A5 seats 2 and has a speed of somewhere around 120 miles per hour.
From nose to tail, the A5 goes about 22 feet so make sure its suitable to fit. A few of the design featuers include the previously mentioned foldable wings, headlights and floodlights, retractable landing gear, and sea wings for easy access and docking. Another necessary option is the trailer.
The ICON A5 is priced affordably, so they say, at $139,000. There are about 350 on order as of today.
ICON was founded in 2005 by Kirk Hawkins, a former US Air Force F-16 pilot. Located in southern California, it has assembled a stunning team of engineers, designers, advisers and investors.
