The New York Yankees have won their 27th World Championship over the Philadelphia Phillies in 6 games. As usual , Mariano Rivera closed it out for Yanks and took care of the win.
Hideki Matsui was awarded the Most Valuable Player award for the series, being the first DH to win it.
