OUTLIER | Summer Shorts

At Outlier they like to practice their own version of the triathlon. First they take a leisurely ride to the beach. Then they jump in the ocean and swim a little bit. Afterwards they stroll down to the boardwalk and enjoy a hot dog and beer. Like most triathletes they love good specialized gear and thats where the Outlier Summer Shorts come in. Check out the story and where to buy the shorts on the flipside.
They started by making a really classic pair of shorts. A seven and half inch inseam means they hang toward the bottom of the thigh, but still nicely above the knee. The button front and side pull tabs give it a clean look, while the deep pockets ensure you don’t loose your belongings on the journey. They had a tough time deciding which of their favorite fabrics to use so they wound up making a pair in just about every fabric lighter than their winterweight. For the time being that means their favorite 4Season cloth (in black) plus the light and elegant Summerweight (in a light gray).

Once they had the first sample made, it clicked immediately, these fabrics would make killer swimsuits too. And then they knew what had to happen, they were going to make sure these shorts would double as a swim trunks and all they needed to do was figure out how to make everything dry fast enough. Their core fabrics are quick drying already, but they needed to work on the pocketing. It took some trial and error but they tracked down some amazing woven supplex, and it was on. They had a pair of shorts that not only looked and felt great, but they dried out faster than their old swim trunks.
Now we need to be honest there is one flaw to these shorts which our friend James pointed out, they take away a good excuse to go skinny dipping…
The shorts are $120 and we expect to be able to ship them next week. Check them out here.
