DQM x Mark McNairy | 5 Questions With Mark McNairy

We recently caught up with Mark McNairy in the midst of his DQM collaboration to answer a few questions for us. The designer breaks down the collaboration for us in a quick five minutes and in five questions. The project includes three exclusive shoe designs, a Navy Suede Long Wing Brogue, a Black Suede Chukka Boot, and a Grey Suede Cap Derby Boot which all feature McNairy’s signature details such as the red brick and crepe soles, as well as a skateboard deck. James and Karla Murry decided it was time to appreciate the mom and pop stores of Manhattan. In a fast changing city, to mostly large retailers, few stores with history are around. She quotes..

“From cheerful Italian bakeries with hand-painted murals to the dingy dive bar that became a local institution, the Murrays’ bright photographs are a striking visual record of how colorful and idiosyncratic each block of New York’s streetscape once was.

Even beyond the photos, James and Karla have also written two book in regard to NYC’s graffiti scene = ” Broken Windows -Graffiti NYC” and “Burning New York”. The exhibit will open on Wednesday, July 15th from 6pm -9pm at Clic Gallery.
