Jesse Zook Mann | Punk Jews
Jesse Mann is the director of Punk Jews which takes you on a two year journey following a community of Jewish musicians, artists, and activists, who are creating a new culture around their heritage and religion. Originally they were going to produce a full length documentary but along the way they realized that they had so many amazing and moving stories from the likes of fashion designer Levi Okunov, MC Y-Love, mixed-media artist Rivka Karasik, punk band Moshiach Oi!, and author/philosopher Yoseph Leib, that they simply couldn’t fit them all into a single film. They will now produce a series of mini documentaries in a blog format where they will be able to bring all of these one of a kind Jewish stories to you every week. Cameras went behind the scenes to document and highlight the lives and brotherly relationships of artists and influencers including Chromeo; Kai Regan; Dust La Rock, A-Trak, and Nick Catchdubs from Fool’s Gold; Jonathan Galkin and Justin Miller of DFA; and Chris Isenberg of No Mas.
