Ulysse Nardin Limited Edition Green “Kinetic” Smart Phone | More Than Just a Rumor

Rumors were streaming around the net for quite some time that Ulysse Nardin will be collaborating with another company to launch the worlds first hybrid smartphone. The company : European firm SCI Innovations. The concept nehind it is blending a high-tech communications tool with a classic and elegant timepiece. The innovation lies in the energy supply system which, to a part, should be left to a conventional winding rotor, known from selfwinding watch movements, which will serve as a secondary battery prolonging the battery life. Dubbed the Chairman, the luxurious limited edition phone pairs cutting-edge kinetic technology with the pedigree of Ulysse Nardin, founded in 1846. The Chairman will be launched at the Ulysse Nardin booth at BaselWorld in Switzerland at the end of the month, and will go on sale later this year. No word on actual release date or exact price. Two versions, distinguished by their material mixture from stainless steel , carbon fiber and rose gold, are planned to hit the market. More info and detailed images at the jump.
While details are limited, we can tell you that the phone will be able to use any mobile phone service provider in the world and the phone will include several components never seen before in a smartphone. A Ulysse Nardin kinetic rotor system has been incorporated into the Chairman’s mechanical and aesthetic design. The phone is hand-assembled under the watchmaker’s strictest guidelines, and each bears a numbered plaque. Each series will consist of 1846 pieces symbolising the year Ulysse Nardin was founded. Rumors of a ladies model will be launched in the next 12 months.
