01

WOW, and the Art Production Fund is proud to present Artist Towel Series 2010, the fourth annual artist towel series, with towels created by acclaimed artists Peter Doig and Yoshitomo Nara. Artist Towel Series 2010 is part of APF?s WOW (Works on Whatever), a unique collection of everyday items designed by artists. APF invites artists to experiment with the latest commercial materials and techniques to bring art off the walls and into homes as everyday objects. WOW introduces contemporary art to a larger community, with revenues from sales supporting APF?s non-profit mission to expand awareness through contemporary art. WOW works conceptually with APF?s program of expanding art audiences and helps fund public art!

Peter Doig is known for creating natural and urban landscapes derived from film stills, footage of actual events or photographs. His work is often primal and nostalgic, recalling a personal memory of time and space. Here, a solitary man is among the lush landscape that surrounds him, recalling nature?s overwhelming and majestic force.
Yoshitomo Nara is one of the most influential contemporary Japanese pop artists, who has developed an international cult following. Inspired by Manga and Animé, he is known for depicting stylized, cartoon-like paintings and sculptures of children and animals, with little or no background in pastel-hues. The subject of innocent children in his oeuvre is often juxtaposed with horror and Japan?s controlled social mores.
Towel Series 2010 is the official pool towel for André Balazs? Standard Hotel and Spa, during Art Basel Miami 2009. The towel will be available for use at the hotel during the duration of the fair and for sale at The Standard gift shop. Towels will also be available on worksonwhatever.com. APF is proud to announce out new partnership with Opening Ceremony to produce and distribute these towels at Opening Ceremony stores in NY, LA and Tokyo as well as boutique retail venues worldwide. The towels are oversized, 60 x 70 inches and are 100% cotton. Towels retail for: $95.00.
